The research explored ideas of how to create immersive environments that provided a place where residents with Dementia who were no longer able to leave the Aged Care facilities could spend time and partake in many of the processes of day to day life activity. A conceptual framework involving a number of different forms of methodology was applied to the design development. This included extensive case-study and precedent research, emotional and experiential design analysis, persona profile development and preliminary site inspections for three different Aged care facilities selected as trial facilities for the concept. The space was divided into three different zones depending on usage and activity levels. Within these zones experiential vignettes were designed to provide residents with the opportunity to partake in the daily rituals of life in a safe and immersive environment.
