Mardigras Time of year again!
It’s that time of year again—Mardi Gras pre-pro season is officially underway!
Looking back at 2025, it was an absolute honor to Creatively Direct and Co-design the float that took out the top prize for “Most Fabulous Float”. It’s hard to capture the energy of that night, but I remember standing there as we rolled down Oxford Street, taking in the wall of sound, the lights, and the absolute sea of spark—and having this sudden, very practical designer thought pop into my head: “How on earth is all this confetti not catching fire right now?!”
When you’re in the middle of a moment like that, it hits you how these massive, electric experiences never happen in isolation. A single frame or a floating piece of stagecraft looks seamless from the crowd, but behind it is a massive, moving machine of pure human effort.
It takes an entire army of brilliantly talented people pulling in the exact same direction—producers, designers, costume makers, makeup artists, sound and lighting technicians, choreographers, and builders. Everyone working side-by-side, obsessing over the tiny details, just to engineer a fleeting moment in time.
That’s the real magic of experiential design: creating spaces where thousands of people can step out of the everyday and share in a moment of pure, unadulterated collective joy.
